ELECTION OF DONALD TRUMP / ISSUE 5: Poets In Unity - Responses to the Election of Donald Trump / POETRY

“Trumpence” by Matthew Sradeja

“A coin I termed and a term I coined”

a lily worth
a burnt bulb
a canceled check
a trumpence I say
that is all that I will pay
cookie dough
gluten free
a rant and a grump
nothing less
tough titty
hope on a wish
what did you expect
a trumpence
all bull
witless an empty
pluck into an empty
tin cup
the sound a snake
makes
without the flourish
of a flickering tongue
less tan the square sum
of a crack in the hard ground
a trumpence
a drought of importance
“make it rain?” nonsense
not one red cent
a penny nail
forget about it.

Matthew Sradeja lives on the south side of Toledo, Ohio with his wife and two cats. He has worked in the automotive and glass industries. He believes there is energy in words and is always searching for it or trying to create it.
