TONIGHT – IT’S LIT: A Literary Turn Up
osted by SnatchPower and led by Sondria Malika Casey, come through to a night of reading and discussing black literature in a way you wish your college lit class would’ve. There’s no separation between student and teacher here, as Sondria has everyone sit in a circle, invites us to read aloud, ponder out loud–no holds barred, ruminate about personal experiences, and connect them with the current matters of black/brown life. You’ll walk away feeling empowered to seek more knowledge within yourself, a feeling hardly ever attributed to the experiences of traditional classroom learning. Tonight they’ll be reading the short story “Civil Peace” by Chinua Achebe. BYOB, bring food, bring sus. $2 donation. Printouts will be available. -Anna Ureña
